Finances

Here is a rough breakdown of the yearly expenses of our family property:

  • Property Taxes:  $3,100. Due February
  • School Taxes:  $3,700. Due September
  • Utilities:  avg. $20.  Due monthly
  • Repairs, upkeep.  $500 annually
  • Insurance.  $550 annually.

TOTAL  $7,870 per year.

In order to meet these expenses, we have established an annual contribution target of $225 for each adult, wage-earning member of the family. Remember, although the property title is held by a few individuals, the property is owned by all of us.  It's a small price to pay for our legacy, family gather place and our own slice of heaven.

There are frequently questions from family members asking what they have paid or when. I will keep an up-to-date listing of what has been paid for the last several years on the Treasurer's report page.

News

Ballycormac-24 came off with great success. There were over 100 people in attendance. The weather was great, so no need for the crystal palace this year.  We had a big turnout for the cornhole competition and the dinner and talent show were well attended.  There was lots of sun for the beach and all the usual activites were enjoyed. There was a big hole in the talent show this year with Bill Masse no longer being with us. His always timely song to close the show was sorely missed, as was his commentary and wry smile. Stan also informed us of two other losses this year amongst the Willifords. Gary Williford passed away in May and John Zbikowski, Barb's husband, died in April.

Other news since the reunion:

  • As most of you know, Jim Weiner, Jay's oldest son, passed away unexpectedly after a brief battle with cancer. This leaves a big hole in the entire Ballycormac clan. Jim was the moving force behind many of the projects and improvements made to the property over the years. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service was held in September in Cape Charles with many Weiners in attendance.
  • Kevin and Caesey Weiner welcomed a new daughter, Wren in September.
